For the fifth consecutive year, James was recognized by BARRON’s Magazine as number 16 out of a list of 1,200 of the top financial advisors in the country, where a total of 4,000 were considered. The factors included in the rankings were: assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice and philanthropic work.
James entered the financial world after earning a bachelor’s degree in finance from Tennessee Technological University and a master’s in business administration from Boston University.
When James isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Rebel.

based on six criteria including: assets under management, asset growth, compliance record,
experience, credentials and online accessibility.
The Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisor ranking, developed by SHOOK Research, is based
on in-person and telephone due diligence meetings and a ranking algorithm that includes:
client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and
quantitative criteria, including: assets under management and revenue generated for their
firms. Portfolio performance is not a criterion due to varying client objectives and lack of
audited data. Neither Forbes nor SHOOK Research receives a fee in exchange for rankings.
Nominees are required to have a minimum of seven years’ experience, $100m minimum
AUM, and a clean regulatory record. Using data on assets, households, and production,
advisors are ranked on three categories: scale, growth, and professionalism. The list is
broken into several sublists: RIAs (fee-only), Over $1b, Under $1b, Next Gen, Women, Solo,
